The juicy Lucy was amazing. The fries were great too(skinny fries). I can't believe that I found such a great place with such reasonable prices. If I ever come back to the cities I will be coming back to Matt's for more

I always try to get a seat at the bar right by the grill. I don’t know about most people, but I enjoy watching the cook make the Jucy Lucy’s. (It’s like dinner and a show!) And their fries are so much better than the ones in 5-8 in my opinion. Thin and super crispy; and I’ve noticed that some cooks drizzle some of the frying oil onto the fried onions for the burgers (yum!). If you’re looking for a dive bar with greasy food, this is it!

A quintessential burger dive! It's worth the wait and the tight quarters. Known in Minneapolis for their Juicy Lucy's but we always just get the double cheeseburgers - just as tasty and without the risk of scalding the roof of your mouth with cheese. Although the Juicy Lucy is certainly worth trying at least once. We have speculated that the seasoning on their flat top grill/griddle is likely a big reason the burgers are so good! A half order of fries is more than enough for 2 people. It's definitely a no nonsense atmosphere when they're busy so if you're looking to make small talk with the wait staff then this isn't your place in our experience. They take cash only, so be prepared to have it on hand or use their ATM. There's also a Holiday gas station less than a block away with a USBank ATM. Parking is street only.

This is a destination that must be visited if you are in the area. The food was delicious and we got to sit in front of the grill by the door. So we got delicious food and got to watch a master work at his craft.

Juicy Lucy. 'Nuff said. Matt's has amazing food. It's too popular for my own good now as the last few times I've gone by on the weekend there has been a literal line out the door at meal time. Good problem for them, bad problem for me. It's worth the wait, though. Matt's is a south Minneapolis institution.

The Juicy Lucy was too good, forgot to take a picture before I ate it. It was delicious! It’s a small hole in the wall type bar with a really great burger and decent fries. If you have some time and you’re in the neighborhood I would stop by and grab a spot at the bar and grab a Lucy or two. This place is popular for their Juicy Lucy so there is potential for a wait. But the burger is worth the wait.

An absolutely delicious burger. The Jucy Lucy is a must try, and even though it only has pickles and onions on it, it’s kinda perfect. The fries are crisp and delicious as well. Staff was friendly and the service fast. A must try if you’re in the area.

Food was great and fresh, service was lousy and slow like usual. They need to hire more servers to clear tables and move through customers faster. Shame, cause this place could do so much more business with better service

They Literally don't have ICE. & For the prices they charge ((For A Salty American cheese ONLY Burger)) THEY SHOULD HAVE ICE.. My Review is based on the 3 of us' dinner ($40 for 3 Pops & 3 Burgers & 1 order of Fries)>> I only Like American cheese personally. But I do understand other peoples plight. Especially when they're dinning w/ me.

Juicy Lucy lives up to its reputation. However, I took one bite and the molten cheese shot out of the burger onto my clothes which took about 3 washings to get out. So that sucked, but I mean it was still definitely worth it. Dive bar feel and prices with some of the best food in town. What it lacks in upscale seating and servers, it makes up in Culture and making you feel at home. That's what it's all about right?

The Juicy Lucy is the main attraction there for a reason. They grill it to perfection every time. The fries although underseasoned go well with any beer

I was visiting a friend in Minneapolis, I flew out there to see a couple of Twins games and some sightseeing. He made sure to bring me here to try a Juicy Lucy. It was so good!! Their menu is simple and the place was popping on a weekday afternoon. The location is very small but I loved that small town corner bar feel. It was so good I had to eat there again before I flew back to California.

The Juicy Lucy was fantastic. Food prices were great, though adult beverages were a bit spendy.We each ordered a Juicy Lucy, and a basket of fries was perfect for our party of 3. Service was friendly and organized.This place is busy and the building is tiny. Be aware that you will not get seated until your whole party is present. You might be waiting for a while if it's packed. All things considered, I will definitely be going back.

First time going to the home of the Juicy Lucy! It's a quaint little bar with a minimal menu, small sitting area, and select taps; but honestly that's the best part! It's definitely your hole in the wall bar and it's perfect! Definitely get a juicy Lucy and enjoy a beverage! Cheers! 😍😀

The July Lucy was fabulous, and we enjoyed sitting in Barack Obama's booth. The benches were pretty far from the table, though, so you had to either sit on the edge of your seat or let grease drip onto your lap.

The birth place of the Juice Lucy original. No glitz or glamour just a good old burger. Cash Only. Menu is simple has like 4 items. Only 2 condiments and a few good beers. My husband and I use to live a couple blocks away during college now that we live in California we still make it a point to stop by.

JUICY LUCY!!Saw this on a Man v Food episode and since then we have wanted to try one out. When we visited my cousins in MN we asked them to take us to one of their fav places. We really enjoyed the burger it was greatness. Loved the juiciness of the burger and how cheesy it was, perfectly complimentary to each otherPlus the beer special was good as well. Helped wash everything down. Really enjoyed this place and will have to hit it up again next time we visit.

I’m not a meat eater and if you’re vegetarian this is definitely not the place to get more than French fries. But my boyfriend tried the juicy Lucy and said it was the best burger he’s ever had. And our service was awesome. Especially for how crowded it was our server was very timely, would recommend.

Made the trip to Minneappolis just so we could try these Juicy Lucy's and they did not disappoint. Be sure to get there early if you want to sit down and eat in house. We got there 10 minutes after opening and there was a line out the door right after we sat down. The staff was super friendly and didnt rush us when we were deciding what drinks we wanted. Will definitely be coming back the next time we are in the area!

DELICIOUS. Perfect place to grab the iconic Minnesotan Jucy Lucy. Nothing fancy because the quality of the burger is all you need. Also SUPER pleased with how fresh the fries were. Friendly staff. Solid, local atmosphere.

Really friendly staff and really good service considering it is always jam packed. Cool to finally have a burger at the original although they were a bit on the small side. Decent beer selection and great that you can get a pitcher and not have to look for pint service in a packed place. I will for sure be back.

Go to Matt's. Sit as close to the grill as possible. Order the Juicy Lucy. Watch the process. Pay your respects to the chef. Don't ask too many questions. Drink a cold beer. Enjoy the best cheese infused masterpiece of a burger you will ever experience. Repeat as often as possible.

The Jucy Lucy was decent and the fries were good, however this place is not at all worth the hype. The line that wrapped around the restaurant and the subsequent 1 long wait once we were seated lead me to develop reasonable expectations that just weren't met. The experience was almost disappointing. You'd have better luck heading to some other hole in the wall.

Yes you will wait. Mostly outside too so dress accordingly! But it will be in worth it! The cheese that comes flowing out will taste amazing and you will forget how long you waited in the first place. Best juicy Lucy in the metro!

This is a local phenomenon. Looks like an old place, nothing special. It was famous enough to have Barack Obama stop by once. Famous for the Juicy Lucy, a delicious hamburger stuffed with cheese, which is served in a paper wrapper. No plates or flatware were presented. No reservations, so the line was out the door. Not sure I'd wait in line for it, but it was definitely different.

Matt’s is the best place for a Jucy Lucy, hands down. Great fries too. Don’t ask for a glass with ice, they don’t have it. The cans and/or bottles of beverages are ice cold however so not a problem. Parking is on-street, so can be tough. This place is popular and always crowded, but the lines move at a reasonably quick rate.

Best juicey in town. Just cheddar. But you know what they say. Cheddar is.... great corner bar.

This place is tied for 1st on best fries in the world for me! Also (as someone who doesn't eat much meat) they have a pretty good grilled cheese!

GO HERE. Go here now. You best be reading this review while standing in line at Matt's Bar right this minute. Easily top 5 burger I've ever had. For the prices, probably top 3 ever. Imagine a tiny dive bar. This is it. The epitome of a dive bar but not dirty and grungy. Just small and loud. Expect to wait in line. We went on this past Sunday night (12/29) and waited for about 20 minutes. Normally it is much longer. And do note, it is a standing line only. But as you'll read in countless reviews - it is WELL WORTH THE WAIT. Do yourselves a favor and wait in line for their Jucy Lucy, a basket of fries (half order is plenty for 2 people) and a few beers.
